*WHEN PRIDE MAKES YOU FEEL YOU HAVE ARRIVED*
*2 Kings 14:10-12 – You have indeed defeated Edom, and your heart has lifted you up. Glory in that, and stay at home; for why should you meddle with trouble so that you fall—you and Judah with you?” But Amaziah would not heed. Therefore Jehoash king of Israel went out; so he and Amaziah king of Judah faced one another at Beth Shemesh, which belongs to Judah. And Judah was defeated by Israel, and every man fled to his tent.*
*MESSAGE*
After Amaziah defeated Edom, his heart was lifted up. That small victory made him feel he had arrived. Instead of staying within his assignment, pride pushed him into another battle he was not instructed to fight and it ended in defeat.
Pride often shows up after success. It makes us feel settled, confident, and above correction. It whispers that we no longer need caution, prayer, or counsel. But the moment we think we have arrived is often the moment we stop depending on God.
The Bible says in *Proverbs 16:18 – “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.”*
Beloved, let success make you grateful, not proud. Celebrate your wins, but stay humble. When pride takes over, it leads us into battles we were never meant to fight—and that is how destruction begins.
