*FATHER, REMEMBER YOUR MERCY*
*2 Samuel 24:16 – And when the angel stretched out His hand over Jerusalem to destroy it, the Lord relented from the destruction, and said to the angel who was destroying the people, “It is enough; now restrain your hand.” And the angel of the Lord was by the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.*
*MESSAGE*
In today’s scripture, we see God’s mercy in action. Although His judgment came upon Israel due to sin, He chose to stop the destruction. When the angel stretched out his hand to destroy Jerusalem, God said, “It is enough; now restrain your hand.” This shows us that God’s mercy can override judgment.
David understood this truth about God’s character, which is why he always appealed to His mercy. Psalm 103:8 reminds us, “The Lord is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.” Similarly, when the people of Nineveh repented, God remembered His mercy and spared them from destruction (Jonah 3:10).
When we face God’s discipline or challenges due to our actions, let us cry out, “Father, remember Your mercy!” He is a compassionate God who desires repentance and restoration. Trust in His mercy, and let it lead you closer to Him.
May the Lord bless you with the understanding of His word today in Jesus Name.
