*A RESPONSIBLE LEADER*
*2 Samuel 24:17-18 – Then David spoke to the Lord when he saw the angel who was striking the people, and said, “Surely I have sinned, and I have done wickedly; but these sheep, what have they done? Let Your hand, I pray, be against me and against my father’s house.” The Altar on the Threshing Floor And Gad came that day to David and said to him, “Go up, erect an altar to the Lord on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.”*

*MESSAGE*
David displayed what it means to be a responsible leader in today’s scripture. When he saw the angel striking the people due to his sin, he took full responsibility and said, “Surely I have sinned, and I have done wickedly; but these sheep, what have they done? Let Your hand, I pray, be against me and against my father’s house.”

David didn’t try to shift the blame or make excuses. Instead, he owned up to his actions and pleaded for mercy on behalf of the people. This is the heart of a true leader—someone who is willing to protect and intercede for those under their care, even at personal cost.

Throughout the Bible, we see other examples of responsible leaders. Moses interceded for the Israelites when they sinned by worshiping the golden calf (Exodus 32:11-14). Jesus, the ultimate leader, bore our sins and took responsibility for our redemption, even though He was sinless.

True leadership requires accountability, humility, and sacrifice. Whether you lead in your family, workplace, or community, be a leader who takes responsibility and seeks the good of others. When mistakes happen, don’t shy away from admitting them—stand before God and ask for His mercy. A responsible leader not only inspires trust but also draws people closer to God.

Beloved, learn to take full responsibility for your actions whether good or bad. Never shift blame on others.
May the Almighty God bless and also give everyone reading today’s devotional the understanding of His word in Jesus Name.
