The Power of Negotiation

2 Samuel 20:21-22 – “That’s not my purpose. All I want is a man named Sheba son of Bicri from the hill country of Ephraim, who has revolted against King David. If you hand over this one man to me, I will leave the town in peace.” ‘All right,’ the woman replied, ‘we will throw his head over the wall to you.’ Then the woman went to all the people with her wise advice, and they cut off Sheba’s head and threw it out to Joab. So he blew the ram’s horn and called his troops back from the attack. They all returned to their homes, and Joab returned to the king at Jerusalem.”
MESSAGE:
In this story, we see how a wise woman used negotiation to save her city. Instead of letting the entire town face destruction, she calmly spoke with Joab to understand his purpose. Through negotiation, she resolved the conflict by handing over Sheba, the man responsible for the rebellion. Her actions not only stopped the attack but also preserved lives and property.

Negotiation is a powerful tool for resolving conflicts and finding peaceful solutions. It requires wisdom, patience, and clear communication. Instead of rushing into anger or conflict, taking time to negotiate can save relationships, resources, and even lives. Proverbs 16:21 reminds us that “The wise in heart will be called prudent, and sweetness of the lips increases learning.”

Beloved, in your interactions, don’t always rush into conflict. Be willing to negotiate and seek peaceful solutions. A calm and wise approach can prevent unnecessary harm and lead to better outcomes. Use the power of negotiation to bring peace and protect what matters most.
May the Lord bless and also give you the understanding of His word today in Jesus Name.
