*VALUE YOUR WORDS*
*2 Samuel 21:1 – “Now there was a famine in the days of David for three years, year after year; and David inquired of the Lord. And the Lord answered, ‘It is because of Saul and his bloodthirsty house, because he killed the Gibeonites.’”*

*MESSAGE*
Saul had made a covenant with the Gibeonites, but he later broke it by attacking them. His failure to keep his word brought suffering upon Israel, causing a famine that lasted three years. The people, who had no part in Saul’s actions, bore the consequences of his broken promise.

This story teaches us the importance of keeping our promises and valuing our words. When we fail to honor our commitments, others can be affected by our actions. *Ecclesiastes 5:5 says, “It is better not to vow than to make a vow and not fulfill it.”* Let your words carry integrity, and ensure you follow through on what you say.

Beloved, be mindful of the promises you make and the words you speak. Broken promises can cause pain for others and even bring unintended consequences. Don’t let someone else’s mistake become your burden. Live with integrity, and let your word be dependable. Always strive to honor your commitments. May the Lord bless and also give everyone reading today’s devotional the understanding of His word in Jesus Name.
